Dylan Greif is a designer who grew from hands-on craft into leading teams. He has managed teams of up to three designers, with dotted-line direction over a dozen more across the organization. Early in his career, he trained under the award-winning experiential team at Local Projects, then designed for growth at Etsy. As Head of Design at Atavist, he invented new formats for journalistic storytelling. He then led digital product design at Casper, before returning to journalism as a lead product designer at the Guardian Mobile Innovation Lab. At Bloomberg Media, he became Head of Product Design, managing a team of designers and partnering with leaders across news, television, marketing, and engineering. He simultaneously served as Global Creative Director of Bloomberg Quicktake (now Bloomberg Originals) — directing designers, studios, and video teams across the organization. After, he lead the product design practice at Merit America, mentoring its designers and building the systems that let a fast-moving team keep up.
Over the past year and a half, he took time off to be a caretaker for his parents. In addition to managing their care, he led a team of around-the-clock aides, and designed and built AI and smart-home prototypes to improve his family’s day-to-day experience. Along the way, he took on select projects through his studio, dylbop: design for a video series for Merit America, a brand identity for the mission-driven Jacobson Lawyers Group, an interactive editorial for a business magazine in development, and the digital and physical experience design for The Parrot Club, the Brooklyn art gallery he founded as a family- and community-building project.
He is excited to return to the work he loves as a product design leader.
Dylan’s work on the brand identity and motion system for Bloomberg Quicktake was recognized in Designboom and honored by the Shorty Awards. Strange Bird, the experimental podcast player he designed for the Guardian Mobile Innovation Lab, exploring interactive, mobile-first audio storytelling, was featured in NiemanLab and an ONA 2018 Finalist for Excellence in Audio Digital Storytelling. Dylan’s product and visual redesign of Atavist, the digital publishing platform, was featured in Fast Company. Urbanology, the interactive city-planning game he designed with Local Projects for the BMW Guggenheim Lab won the MUSE Gold Award for Games & Augmented Reality and was exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum.
Dylan has taught design as an adjunct professor at The Rhode Island School of Design, The New School, and the School of Visual Arts. He has spoken and given workshops at The New York Times, aiga/ny, Havas Media, The NewCo Festival, Etsy, Parsons, risd, UPenn, and Kutztown University.
